Tawanna Shaunte' - Artist With A Purpose

At age 33, the soul-stirring presence of songstress Tawanna Shaunte' is ready to burst the music industry wide open! Tawanna Shaunte's inspiration and vocal training were inspired by her musical parents. Her father, who was a guitar player/ singer, died in a car accident when she was a child. Tawanna's gospel undertones were molded by her mother, who was also a gospel singer and pianist. Her mother's strong determination and gospel roots helped to implant the soulfulness in Tawanna's voice. Even though Tawanna was born in the small town of Florence, MS, she' had a "big" voice at age 9 and still captivates listeners today. Tawanna Shaunte's masterful songwriting skills, vocals ranges, and music arrangements are truly gifts by divine intervention. For three years, Shaunte' performed with her own international recording music group called "Eclectik Soul" which sold hundreds of cd sales all over the US and abroad (London, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Japan). While performing with Eclectik Soul, Shaunte' produced and released two albums, "Eclectik Soul: Eclectik Soul" and "Rising" while also home schooling her two boys and operating several family businesses. She has performed in New York (NY), New Orleans (LA), Atlanta (GA), and Mississippi . Tawanna Shaunte' is passionate about singing and spreading knowledge to the children in her community by performing for MS school programs to nuture the growth and understanding of music. In 2010, Tawanna Shaunte' and her husband opened a bookstore "Afrika Book Cafe" in Jackson, MS to create more awareness of African heritage and as a venue provide local artists opportunities to showcase their talents. She is now diligently working on her solo career and solo album, "Shades of Color" due to release in 2012
